The micro SD card must be reformatted when using a newly purchased micro SD card or when an error occurs on the micro SD card. The supported micro SD card types are listed below:

TypKapazität
SDup to 2 GB
SDHCup to 32 GB*
Table 1: Micro SD card types supported by the Ressourcenwächter. (*64 GB microSD card can still be formatted in FAT32 format, but only part of the storage capacity can be used, see here.)

On a computer with Windows 10, the SD card can be formatted as follows:

  1. connect the micro SD card to the computer using a card reader.
  2. Right-click on the corresponding data carrier after the system has recognized the micro SD card.
  3. select the “Format” option as shown in the figure below.
  4. Set the parameters as follows:
    • [Important!] File system: FAT32
    • For other parameters, the default setting can be used as shown below.

Note: When formatting a micro SD card that contains data, it is recommended that you back up the data before formatting. Formatting will erase the data on the card.

For other Windows versions and other operating systems, such as macOS, please refer to the corresponding instructions for formatting the SD card. Retain the formatting parameters as described above.
